2026 CHANGE OF WATCH WEEKEND

January 16-18, 2026

Come join us at the 2026 Classic Yacht Association Change of Watch weekend in Seattle.  We’ve created a wonderful weekend event so you can meet new CYA-friends and catch-up with old ones! 

                                                   

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Mayflower Park Hotel.  Built in 1927, the Mayflower Park Hotel evokes an earlier era – just like our classic boats.  The hotel is centrally located near many of Seattle’s best restaurants and attractions Mayflower Park Hotel | Elegant & Historic Seattle Hotel.  A link to book your room for our weekend is provided at the end of this e-mail.



  • Transportation to and from the hotel.  There are numerous ways to get to and from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport to the Mayflower Park Hotel.
      • Sound Transit Link Light Rail.  Cost $3.00 per person one way.  About 45 minutes to downtown.  There is a light rail stop at Westlake & Olive very near the hotel.
      • Taxi.  Cost is $35.00 to $50.00.  About 20 minutes to downtown.
      • Lyft/Uber.   Typically, these services will cost more than a taxi depending on the time of day.  About 20 minutes to downtown.

    • Things to do in Seattle in January.  Seattle offers plenty to do anytime of year.  And the Mayflower Park Hotel is centrally located to see many of Seattle’s iconic and new attractions. Visit Seattle Washington | Travel & Tourism | Official Site.

    • Nearby restaurants.  Seattle is a foodie town.  There are many excellent restaurants nearby.  We’ll provide a map and recommendations.  Or ask the concierge or a local when you get here!
      • Getting Around.  Seattle has a variety of ways to get around town including those listed below.  The concierge at the hotel will be able to help you determine which option may work best for you depending on when and where you want to go.
        • Sound Transit Link Light Rail.  An inexpensive way to travel north and south from the city.
        • King County Metro Buses.  King County has an extensive network of busses that will take you around Seattle and surrounding neighborhoods.
        • Seattle Streetcar.  There are two routes.  One will take you up to First Hill and the other to South Lake Union.
        • Seattle Monorail.  The Monorail provides a 2-minute ride to the Chihuly Gardens and Glass, and the Space Needle.
      • The Board of Directors Meetings.  The CYA Board of Directors meetings will be held at the hotel on Saturday and Sunday morning.  Coffee and pastries will be provided for meeting participants.

      • WEEKEND ITINERARY:

      • Thursday, Jan. 15.  Arrive on Thursday, January 15.  Check in at the hotel.  Relax.  Refresh.  See Seattle. 
        • Evening Meet us at a nearby restaurant for happy hour.

      • Friday, Jan. 16. Transportation will be provided for these planned group activities:
        • Morning.  Behind the scenes tour of the Ballard Locks Ballard Locks - Wikipedia. These are the busiest locks in the U.S. Built by the U.S. Corps of Engineers in 1916, as part of a new commercial waterway for Seattle connecting fresh to salt water. We’ll learn about the history, construction, and operation of this Seattle icon.


      • Afternoon.  Docent led tour of the National Nordic Museum  National Nordic Museum | Go on a Nordic Journey Across 12,000 Years).  Originally housed in an old schoolhouse, this museum was built in the Ballard neighborhood and honors the Scandinavian heritage of the Pacific Northwest.  A stunning new building was recently built and was designated the “National Nordic Museum” by Congress in 2019. 


        • Evening.  Welcome cocktail party in the Fireside room at the hotel.

      • Saturday, Jan. 17.
        • Morning.  CYA Board of Directors meeting at the hotel.  Coffee and pastries will be provided for meeting participants.
        • Afternoon.  Lunch cruise aboard beloved CYA vessels DISCOVERY and BLUE PETER.  Take the Seattle Street Car to South Lake Union.  Board the boats.  Lunch will be served on board.


        • Evening.  Change of Watch banquet at the hotel.  Come dressed in your finest!

      • Sunday, Jan. 18.
        • Morning.  CYA Board of Directors meeting at the hotel.  Coffee and pastries will be provided for meeting participants.  The weekend officially closes when the meeting ends.

      Getting down to business:  Here are the steps register for the weekend: 

      1.  Register with the CYA for the event.  $200.00 per person.  The registration fee includes the Friday activities and cocktail reception, and the Saturday lunch cruise and the Change of Watch banquet. Select your meal and select the meal for your guest when you add your guests.  Note: do not enter an email address for your guest.

      • Dinner Choices.

        • Herb Roasted Chicken Breast
        • Butternut Squash Risotto
