Photos from the Olympia Wooden Boat Fair, May 10-11, 2003 by Dave Ellis The Olympia event is, as always, fabulous! The antique stores are stocked to the nines, and their prices make Seattle folks blush with shame, they are so low! The cruise down was on mirror finish pristine waters, with not a single Bayliner crossing our wake. The return was as smooth, although with our share of plastic wake crossings. We intend to make Olympia a regular event, and encourage others to do the same. Phantom, Spindrift, and El Mistico were the only CYA boats there, and Roanoke, a former member was there as well. Spindrift was awarded Best Power Boat, and Phantom received Best Period Vessel. Not bad for CYA! Olympia's Historian wrote and read a fantastic biography of Heine Dole at the event ending breakfast. It would make a great item for our newsletter or website. Ed Docherty (Phantom) has become very active in the Olympia Wooden Boat Association and can hopefully get a copy.
