ARIES II was originally built for Irving Tushinsky, an executive at SONY in Los Angeles, shipped by water from New Jersey and christened EL GRANDE II. The name was changed in 1976 when the boat was sold and moved to Seattle, where she stayed with two different owners until 2006 when she was sold to James Gartland and was moved to Vancouver, BC. In 2016 she was sold to Eric & Lisa Stangl and moved to San Francisco. In 2019 she was sold to her current owner, Bill Adams.
Deck: Teak over plywood
Cabin Sole: Carpet over plywood, hardwood in galley and heads
Bulkheads: Mahogany plywood
Construction Scantlings: Traditional carvel planking w/ mahogany planks on 2 1/2” x 1” oak frames every 12”, fastened with 2 1/4” and 2/12” silicone bronze fasteners.
Superstructure: Fiberglass over plywood. Raised cabin trunk with flying bridge over and enclosed aft deck
Two 12V71 Detroit Diesel engines. 2 cycle naturally aspirated FWC Rated 456HP @ 2100 rpm
